CMO

Cis-9-Cetyl Myristoleate (CMO)

For fast Arthritis Pain Relief!! Very effective for those who want to maintain or re-establish flexible, pain free joints. Also, excellent for the golfer, weight-lifter, tennis player or anyone who participates in activities that require the joints to endure repetitive twisting or high stress motions.

Cetyl-Myristoleate also known as CMO or CM, was discovered by Harry W. Diehl, a researcher at the National Institutes of Health, working alone in his home lab. Diehl took a fatty acid, myristoleic acid, and combined it with a fatty alcohol molecule, cetyl alcohol, creating an ester of that fatty acid called cetyl myristoleate. He discovered that it was the presence of this compound in swiss albino mice that prevented them from developing joint problems. Diehl's laboratory experiments on CM were published in the Journal of Sciences in March, 1994.

It is believed that CMO acts as a type of joint 'lubricant' and anti-inflammatory agent. Based on animal studies and several human case histories CMO is now believed to be a useful and effective treatment for both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

What is CMO?
CMO is the name of a modified fatty acid called Cetyl Myristoleate, which is the common name for cis-9-cetyl myristoleate. It is a natural substance found in certain animals, including beavers and mice. As supplied, it is a naturally derived, highly purified, and refined waxy ester prepared for oral administration.

Fatty acids are the individual components of oils in the same way that amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as linotenic acid and linolelic acid, are crucial to life and are called essential fatty acids (EFAs). Research shows that CMO appears to have the same beneficial characteristics as the EFAs, however, it is considerably more potent and the benefits are longer lasting.

EFAs are essential to normal cell structure, physiological processes, body function, and function as components to nerve cells and cell membranes. EFAs are depleted in chronic inflammatory diseases and their deficiency is associated with many autoimmune diseases. EFAs when used over an extended period of time have been shown to decrease pain, inflammation, and motion limitations of arthritis. One of the characteristics of CMO is that it acts as a super lubricant (surfactant) for the joints.

How does CMO work?
Reports suggest that CMO has the ability to reprogram faulty memory T-cells, thus treating a cause of arthritis. It is believed that CMO has the ability to normalize hyper-immune responses, thus the favorable results in treating autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, but it seems to function more effectively as a surfactant, or lubricant, and a powerful anti-inflammatory. Although the major benefits come promptly, minor improvements continue for several months after finishing the one-month program.

Does CMO have side effects?
No negative ones have been observed or noted.

Rather than having negative side effects, CMO appears to have many positive ones! According to many researchers and scientists, doctors using CMO in their practices, along with writers of articles and authors of books on Cetyl Myristoleate, CMO works on many other autoimmune diseases and even has anti-aging properties!

With the hundreds of people who have taken cetyl myristoleate there have been no confirmed reports of adverse side effects. In common with fish oils, it may produce some mild burping in some people which passes within an hour. There have been no reported interactions with other medications or natural substances.

Toxicity studies have been performed on cetyl myristoleate and the lack of toxicity is evident. Test results deemed cetyl myristoleate a non-toxic material in accordance with Federal regulations.
