Cascara is an aperient, a laxative which works gently and without griping or irritation to produce easier evacuation and normal stool function. It acts specifically upon the large intestines, which gives it its importance in the lower bowel formula. It is recommended for cases of long-standing constipation, used in small doses over a long period of time. Even if an immediate effect does not take place, eventually the Cascara will tone and strengthen the bowel and effect normal function. Therefore, if you are looking for a strong, one- time laxative, choose Turkey Rhubarb or some other cathartic, instead of Cascara Sagrada. Cascara acts wonderfully to tone the entire alimentary canal, increasing the secretions of the stomach, liver, pancreas and lower bowels. Directions:

As a dietary supplement adults & children over 12 years old take 1-2 capsules once a day at bedtime with 12 oz of water. Children under 12 years old consult with a health care professional.
