Episilk contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA) or hyaluronan, an important element of skin tissue that allows the retention of skin moisture and functions as a lubricant between the connective tissues of the skin.

As we age, the presence of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases, leaving the skin dry and wrinkled. Hyaluronic acid is the most water-loving molecule known to man. In fact, 1 small gram of hyaluronic acid can bind up to 6 liters of water.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a special mucopolysaccharide occurring naturally throughout the human body. How long has Hyaluronic Acid been used?
Hyaluronic acid was first used commercially in 1942 when Endre Balazs applied for a patent to use it as a substitute for egg white in bakery products. He went on to become the leading expert on HA, and made the majority of discoveries concerning HA.
